Monash Wushu Club is in the running to get one of ten $1000 grants from Leader Local Grants.
We need as many votes as possible to have a chance of getting a grant. So check out our idea, register and vote!
The aim of Monash Wushu is to promote Chinese martial arts by contributing to the wushu community, whilst continuing to be a popular university sports club. The club will be participating in the Wushu & Taichi Practitioners Australia Competition 2012, promoting grassroots wushu. We wish to use the Grant to sponsor our members attendance, as well as update our club's equipment. Our hope is to instil passion among our members, and provide the opportunity for them to continue to develop their skills. By improving our club standard, we can better promote the benefits of wushu to the community.
Our priority is to sponsor our members attendance to this years WTPA competition. We expect to sponsor: - Approx. 8 competitors competing in multiple events (each event is roughly $23) - Approx. 15-20 members as spectators (Festival entry fees will be $10) We expect the total to amount to roughly $500 The residual amount will be put to: - purchasing new weapons for training and performances (staffs, swords and shields) - refurbishing existing equipment (spears), and - purchasing new kicking and punching pads, to provide our members with safe and appropriate equipment with which to train with.
